Screw free speech! Al Gore is pleased that Reddit is censoring ‘climate deniers’

Volunteer moderator Nathan Allen recently explained the decision to keep the opinions of climate change skeptics out of Reddit’s science forum. Wouldn’t want any dissenting opinions getting in the way of an agenda, right? Al Gore certainly agrees:!/algore/status/412987992626561025

Whew! Free speech is so 200 years ago, you guys.

Thought science was not based on popularity or celebrity?
But on experimentation and review of theory— ted scott (@tedscott4) December 17, 2013

Sorry, Ted. You thought wrong. That’s just not how it works in the World According to Al Gore:!/BoreGuru/status/412990174566432769!/rdbrewer4/status/412992081242517504

Aside from using the nonsensical “climate deniers” term, Gore and his like-minded Redditors are celebrating flat-out censorship. Allen claims that “as a site, Reddit is passionately dedicated to free speech.” Could’ve fooled us.!/twitr_patter/status/412992131179876352!/pyteaparty/status/412998466533851136!/TorchOWyatt/status/412993291496747008

There’s a precedent for this sort of thing:!/OrsonSnow/status/412992561309949952

Yes it did. Which is just fine with Allen, who expresses hope that newspapers will follow in Reddit’s footsteps and keep those pesky “climate deniers” out of their pages. No doubt Al Gore shares that hope.!/gogman/status/412995595939246080

It’s science for the modern age.
